Garment Sewing

Fun fact: I have been sewing for as long as I can remember and even did sewing classes with my husband as newlyweds.

I grew up around sewing machines and continue to be blessed with talented seamstresses in my extended family. Sewing garments always seemed like such a scary thing before I started my pandemic hobby. Now, I can hardly remember a time before I sewed my own clothes.

The thrill I get from cutting out fabric and sewing it together into something new that fits my body is out of this world. Yes, there are some fails and frustrations, but I can say there are few things as satisfying as wearing my #memade clothes in public and getting compliments on them by friends and strangers alike.

When we picked out the colours for our nursery – black, white and mustard – we didn’t take into consideration the fact that baby things don’t typically come in those colours. So instead of hunting far and wide or changing our colours, we set out making some custom items for our little baby Fournier.
