On my bookshelf in September

I promise I've been reading more books than just scrapbooks and adult colouring books this month!We just recently got our new ID cards in the mail with the new address on it, but still haven't had a chance to make it to the library. No worries though, with the new book exchange I initiated at work (totally not for selfish reasons at all...) and a bag of books my mom dropped off, I have had more than enough to read.Here are the books I read in September:Women, Work and the Art of Savoir Faire by Mireille Guiliano | This book was recommended to me when I was in university by one of my profs, but I never actually got around to reading it. It's a nice look into the success of a PR business woman, but I'm not entirely convinced everything was relevant to me and the industry where I am in this day and age. Despite this, there were some good key learnings that I took with me, making it well worth the read.The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion | I loved this series and couldn't put it down; I literally finished it in 2 days. The whole book is written from the perspective of a man with aspergers who doesn't know he has the syndrome. It is essentially a mystery novel meets love story with a lot of social cues to learn for the main character and even more lessons in opening up and venturing into the unknown. I was so excited when I was talking about the book with my mom, and was even more delighted when she presented me with the sequel I didn't even know existed.The Rosie Effect by Graeme Simsion | I jumped into this book right away and wasn't disappointed with the result. I can't say much without giving the first book away, so all I can say is that the ending was a little unbelievable to me, as real life would probably have to involve a lot more effort and communication to get to the end result, but regardless, I was happy how it ended. Highly recommended if you already enjoyed The Rosie Project.Best Kept Secret by Jeffrey Archer | My mom gave me a huge bag of books and didn't let me know that there was an entire series in the bag. So naturally, I pulled out one book without realizing it was meant to be the third in an entire series. It wasn't horrible reading it without reading the other books beforehand, but I was initially super disappointed with the ending. I shared this feeling with my mom who then let me know that I had read it in the wrong order and had to start from the beginning and keep reading through the series to the fourth and fifth books. I've already gone back and read the first two books so far in October, and I can now say that I am really enjoying the Clifton Chronicles.It seems like it was a super slow month with books, especially compared to October, where we're only 8 days in and I've already finished almost as many books. I am really getting into the swing of things and can't wait to show you what's next on my bookshelf in October.Happy reading!
