Family favourite scone recipe
While on our honeymoon in Ireland, Will and I tasted the most delicious scones. The cafe was in a quaint town by the countryside, where we stopped to soak in the stunning sights of the Irish countryside on a hiking path along the outskirts of the town.Somewhere along the way, we managed to get lost and found ourselves on a small shoulder of a busy highway, trying desperately to find our way back to the car. When we finally found our way back to the village, we decided to stop and enjoy a little snack. This may or may not have been the moment that we took a wrong turn. But it was all worth it for the photo op!The cafe was empty except for the two of us, the scones had just come out of the oven, and we enjoyed an intimate moment, happily gobbling up the scones with fresh cream and homemade jam. They were so delicious, we could have taken the whole batch with us! Now that we're back at home, we like to make our own family scone recipe and pretend we're back in that small town, newly married and enjoying these special little moments together again.Irish-inspired Tea SconesIngredients:- 3 cups flour- 1 cup margarine- 1/2 cup sugar- 4 tsp baking powder- 1/2 tsp salt- 2 eggs- 1/3 cup milkDirections:Preheat oven to 375º.Mix flour, margarine, sugar, baking powder and salt until crumbly.Make a well in the middle of the bowl and add eggs and milk.Knead all together so mixture will hold. Roll and cut. Bake at 375º for 10-12 minutes.Mix it up a bit! The ones we enjoyed in Ireland were white chocolate and raspberry, but feel free to try adding chocolate chips or blueberries for a different taste!Enjoy!
