Wedding Wednesday: 3 things I wish I knew before dress shopping

Since I haven't had my wedding yet (and because Will actually reads everything I write), this post obviously won't be very image heavy. Regardless, I thought it was a post worth writing before the wedding, so that the dress shopping experience was still fresh in my mind.1. Go with as few people as you can, but choose those people wiselyMore people equates to more opinions, and in this case, more may not be merrier. I chose to have my Mom, Aunt and sister come along with me for dress shopping, partly because it would have been too difficult to get everyone together for the day of shopping, but mainly because I valued their opinion and wanted to share this experience with them.2. Shop hop if you canEvery shop carries a limited amount of designers, as their contracts are dependent on their sales of each. For this reason, I think it's important to try on a variety of different dresses at different locations, in order to find the dress that's right for you. As well, each shop has different price points, and shopping around will help you find the best deal on your dream dress.3. Dresses will never fit perfectly, so don't freak outThis last point is definitely one I wish someone told me before I went to go pick up my dress, pre-alterations. Wedding dresses are made to be altered; they come with at least 2 inches of alteration room in each seam, which allows seamstresses to re-work the dress to fit your body perfectly. I wasn't privy to this information and had the worst meltdown when my dress was "just a little snug on the hips" when I first tried it on.Save yourself the heartache and understand that sometimes, it's better to get a smaller size that fits in certain areas and can be let out to fit in other areas. Everything is adjustable and will work out in the end. No need to lose sleep over the original fit when you first pick up your dress.
