Big name changes around here

What's in a name? This topic has been on my mind for quite some time now, especially with my upcoming nuptials. Sometimes it's hard to wrap my head around the fact that in just over 3 months, I will be changing who I've always been. Growing up with the name Sarah, I was never the only one at school, work or dance. I have always been Sarah Folk or Sarah F. Even people I have known for well over a decade still call me Sarah Folk (I am looking at you Ann Milne!). At least the good news is that I won't have to change my initials, and I could technically still be called Sarah F.As much as it feels like I am lying to people when I give them my name now (since at this point it might be different by the next time I see them again), the thought of becoming a Fournier is so very exciting! To me, taking Will's name is important because it signifies the foundation of our family unit. I can't wait to be Mrs. Fournier, and I look forward to one day sharing my last name with my children as well. I know this is a completely personal decision that not all women make, and I really feel that it is entirely up to the individual/couple to choose what's right for them. To each their own, am I right?!So what other changes are happening?Glad you asked. The answer: I am not the only one changing my name! No, Will and I are not swapping last names in an attempt to be all new-age and hippie-like. Instead, after much contemplation, I have decided to change the name of this wonderful blog. I feel like this is a summer full of exciting changes, and so why not reflect these changes in the one place I go to pour my heart out every week.Polkadot Pirates was such a random name to begin with, and although it's super fun to say, it often gets people pretty confused when I explain what it's about. The new name isn't much better for the whole explanation thing, but I think it is a little more chic and modern. (And I hope you agree!)Drumroll please...I am so happy to introduce you to Sweet Green Studios! While the old name reflected who I was as a child (yes, I desperately wanted to be a pirate when I "grew up"), the new name better reflects who I am now (specifically the fact that my favourite tea is sweet green). Sweet Green Studios also has more potential to really turn into anything I want it to become. I am not too sure what the vision is for this yet, but I guess the joy is in the unknown.SGS flower(1)These changes will be rolled out this weekend, so please don't be alarmed when you come back and Polkadot Pirates looks a little different. I hope you will continue to follow me here, as I have some great DIYs, crafts, scrapbook ideas and photography challenges in the hopper. There might even be a guest blogger or two...Stay tuned, and I hope you enjoy the new look of Sweet Green Studios! I would love to hear your thoughts on the changes being made, so please feel free to leave some comments below!
