Welcome

My name is Sarah. I am a maker and accidental small business owner.

I took over this little slice of the Internet in 2013 as a place to share my memory keeping and craft projects. Since then, it’s grown with me through different life stages and is now home to Sweet Green Studios, my Passion Project. I'm happy to share our family's story as we strive to make a positive impact on this place we call home.

What was once a place for all things beeswax food wraps, Sweet Green Studios has evolved and changed along with my interests and business endeavours. I invite you to follow along with me as I try new craft projects, dig deeper into my garment sewing addiction, and pair my fondness for reading with my love for beautiful and simple graphic design.

The Evolution of SGS

From a small craft blog to a full-blown successful company, Sweet Green Studios has seen a lot of change over the years. We are so grateful for every stop on this journey and appreciate the love and support we’ve received from our friends and family throughout the evolution of our business.

This business has opened our eyes to the realities of running a small handmade, sustainable business. We have experienced the joys of our successes, met an incredible amount of talented and hard-working small business owners, and have made connections that will last a lifetime. Thank you for stopping by.

We’ve spent many days and nights behind this table, meeting new customers and welcoming back returning ones. Thank you for your continued support as we go through yet another change.

2013

Started a craft & scrapbooking blog called
Polkadot Pirates

2015

As part of my graphic design courses, I rebranded and changed the name of my blog to Sweet Green Studios.

2017

I started making Beeswax Food Wraps (a plastic wrap alternative) for my family, after my daughter started eating solid foods and had a lot of leftovers. This unintentionally turned into a small business when I offered to also make them for a local farm store and started selling my wares at Farmers’ Markets.

2018

After a successful holiday market season, we decided to invest in our wee company by designing our own fabric and product packaging.

2019

Our Beeswax Food Wrap business grew exponentially and we were forced to incorporate the business in June 2019. This is also the year we were able to further grow our family.

2020

After the birth of our son, we decided to phase out the business and focus our efforts on new ventures, along with raising eco-conscious kids.

(You can read more about that decision here.)

2022

Making it through the pandemic and major personal life changes, I am excited about the future of Sweet Green Studios and using this as a platform to share the many creative projects I have planned for the new year.
