5 ways to treat every mom-to-be

I’ve been so lucky to be surrounded by so many supportive and generous people during my pregnancy, especially since the first few months were anything but ideal.

There are so many things that focus on preparing for the baby to get here, that we can easily forget about the big changes pregnancy brings to the momma-to-be and the hard work that goes into making a baby. Here are the five things that I’ve received from my friends and family that I think every mom-to-be would appreciate during her pregnancy:

  2. I’ve tried a couple different body butters to combat those pesky stretch marks, but when my good friend got me this one, it was life-changing. Before, I would get my husband to put the body butter on, but he hated his hands getting oily and greasy. With this, you can rub it on without getting it on your hands, and it’s been amazing. I keep it in the bathroom and apply it after every shower. So far, so good!
     
  3. An awesome diaper bag that doesn’t look like a diaper bag



    It’s inevitable that we will need to get a handy bag to keep all of baby’s things in, but that doesn’t mean it has to look like a typical diaper bag. Will got me this stellar Skip Hop bag for Mother’s Day this year, and I can’t wait to fill it with all little things that come with little babies.
     
  4. Prenatal Yoga Classes



    These classes have been my saving grace. Originally, I joined a local prenatal yoga class to get some extra exercise in my routine and to meet other moms in the area, but the classes have become so much more to me. I live for the sharing portion when we do our weekly check-in for what’s going on with our pregnancies, especially when I was having a rougher time at the beginning. Although Will is great to talk to and very understanding, it’s different speaking to other women experiencing similar feelings and getting some advice from women who have been-there-done-that.
     
  5. Hand-me-down maternity clothes
    I learned the hard way that clothes quickly get tight and uncomfortable when you’re growing a baby. I had purchased a couple pairs of maternity pants and tops, but it was hard to keep up with my dwindling wardrobe while trying to find new outfits that fit and were comfortable for work every day. I happened to ask one of my best friends for any maternity clothes I might be able to borrow, and she surprised me with an entirely new wardrobe on loan that I can now fit into. It’s the best feeling to pack up all my pre-pregnancy clothes and fill my closet and drawers with only clothes I know will fit. And sharing is caring! By asking my friends for help, I was able to save a ton of money that we can now use towards important baby things.
     
  6. Prenatal massages
    I’ve never felt like I deserved a massage more than at 25 weeks pregnant, and I am sure I will become even more deserving as we creep closer to our due date. With my body changing so quickly week to week, my muscles are more sore than ever and the only thing that can provide me with relief is a prenatal massage. Just make sure you get the pregnancy table! It’s really not the same without it.
